So...I guess I'm supposed to wear a wetsuit for the Redman half?? This is all very, very new to me. Also, I'd like to get a tri-suit and I dig the TriOKC logo. Do you guys have triathlon gear?

They look rather suffocating...guess it's worth a try.

Cat....I have the TRI-OKC apparel. I assume you're a small. I will be a S&D Thursday at Arcadia.

It's way too HOT for a wetsuit now. Also, if temperatures stay this way.....there is a remote possibility that Redman would NOT be wetsuit legal. Not trying to be a "buzz kill", but if we don't see a break in temp and get some rain.....the swim is going to be just like last S&D at Arcadia.
2012.... it may be ugly, but at least I'll be racing :-)

Honestly, I would rather not wear a wetsuit. So, maybe I'll try this first tri without one. Now, the thought of a 1/2 marathon at noon if it's still even close to this hot at the end of September sounds awesome.
My plan is to be at the Splash and Dash Thursday and, yes, I guess I would be a small (never tried one on). Do the TriOKC triathlon suits have cycling padding? Also, how much do they cost?

Hey Cat....not sure if the sale is still "on" but Steve had all his wet-suits on 30 or 35% off last week. I picked up an 2XU C:1 for somewhere around $150!

Swam in it for the first time last Wed in the lap pool. They DO speed you up, no denying that! I I was cutting an easy 20 sec off my normal 100m splits. But the resistance in the shoulders did seem to fatigue my arms a bit quicker and they definitely interfere with your breathing. I had a noticeable difference in my inhalation, more labored.

@ Buzz, Ill look you up Thurs....I want some gear as well.

I'm gonna go with the tri suit if it has padding...if not, I could just duck tape a super maxi pad onto my bike seat, right?
I'm going to forgo the wet suit for now. Though flying on top of the water does sound fun. However, I'm mildly claustrophobic and wrapping myself up like seal doesn't sound like a good idea for me at this point in the game.

My wife tried that maxi pad thing on her bike once. Shredded after about 3 miles.

I have asthma, and something extra around my chest has always made me uncomfortable.

Desoto makes wetsuit pants... probably the best tri investment I've made.

Not a bad idea...just make sure you get the most bang for your buck (and butt), mark sure it's 5mm thick which will give you the most lift legally.
