OCU Sports Performance Testing Services and Training

Postby DrMiller » Sat Apr 27, 2013 7:32 pm

TriOKC community,

With the summer season ramping up I just want to again throw out there we have testing services available for interested athletes. Running gait analysis and lactate threshold testing in particular.

This summer Oklahoma City University Sports Performance is also offering a resistance training package for interested athletes. The training is 12 weeks long through the summer starting May 13th and running through the end of July, and includes 2 day a week training sessions (not including the week of the fourth of July) designed to help keep you healthy and improve movement economy and ultimately performance.

During the training you will learn exercises and programming you can take with you in future seasons and training cycles. Resistance training is important for the triathlete and distance athlete. These are not generic personal training sessions but are designed for the endurance athlete. Each training phase is started with a running gait analysis and movement screen (and a few other assessments) to detect any individual problems to be addressed in the program. You can resistance training while in the midst of high volumes of endurance and interval work and we can help you manage the volume properly. Additionally we will talk with you about how to manage your training outside of the weight room as well. All training takes place at OCU, training days will be determined base on your training schedule for tri or other endurance competitions. Training takes place under the guidance of certified strength and conditioning coach and OCU Sports Science professor, Dr. Jason Miller, CSCS, USAW.

We have tried to make the cost of the training as reasonable as possible at $360 for all 12 weeks or just $15 a session, you cannot find that even with a trainer at a commericial gym. Smaller packages of up to 4 weeks are also available for $160 and can be started any time from May 13th to July 1st. Feel free to jump in at any time during the summer for a prorated cost if more than 4 weeks are desired.

If interested or you would like more information, contact Dr. Miller (call him Jason) at jmiller2@okcu.edu
